DSG Service schedule

What's the service schedule for the 7 speed (dry clutch) DSG.

VW says it does not need servicing at all for life of the gearbox and you read online its every 40k miles.

I intend to keep the car for a few years so I want keep everything healthy.

And do anyone know a VW specialist in the Birmingham area.

From my own research it’s a sealed unit with separate oil for the mechatronics and the gearbox itself. The mechatronics is sealed and the gearbox oil ‘can’ be changed but isn’t absolutely required.

Unfortunately the unit will wear and eventually the clutch will need replacement and it will cost a fortune.

I plan to keep mine for a while depending on how things progress with the combustion ban and ULEZ changes. Drive to enjoy it and don’t bully your gearbox is all I can say. Monitor for anything abnormal and get it checked while under warranty. The DQ200 box has a poor history and only time will tell if it’s been revised in this current gen Polo.

Isn't the DQ200 (which had numerous issues) the dry clutch box? I'm pretty sure the new Polo GTI has a wet clutch!

I’m Kind of lucky 70% of my driving is on the motorway so my DSG is not really been worked hard. But I always allow the engine/DSG to warm up before pushing them hard. I have read the early DQ200 box was troublesome but the latest ones what we have got have been revised to get rid of weak points but time we tell. And the clutch pack should last upto 150,000 miles I have also read if been treated gently.

Like you say treat it with respect and hopefully it will return the favour when it gets older.

And where the service is concerned it looks it upto you if you feel it requires one.

I think the GTI have got the wet clutch. But rest of the Polos with the 1.0 engine got the dry clutch.
