How to remove gear gaitor and swap for alcantara?

Hello,

I have a alcantara wrapped steering wheel and was considering changing the standard leather DSG gaitor out match.

How much of a faff is it to get the gaitor off does anybody know?

I don’t know the answer but in my experience on other VWs you just pull directly upwards and the plastic clips will loosen and come free.

Now as to get the actual shifter off..not a clue.
