Short throw shifter for 5-speed Polo 6c

Post by alaskan »

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice related to short throw shifters for 6R/6C Polos with a 5-speed manual gearbox (and 1.2 TSI engines with code CJxx if that changes things).

As far as my research went, the 6-speed is MQ 200-6 and the 5-speed uses the MQ 200-5.
While was able to find some short shifters for the 6-speed gearbox which reduce both front-back and side-to-side movement, I'm coming across conflicting info for the 5-speed.

As far as I can tell, this Forge quickshifter
FMVAG5QS - https://www.forgemotorsport.com/Quicksh ... --997.html
only reduces the front-back movement which would be fine for me since I currently have such short shift solution installed in a different (non-VAG) car.
(some of the fancier 6-speed short shifters have 2 parts and also reduce the side-side movement).

Forge does not mention compatibility with 6R/6C 5-speeds, but this seller does
https://www.bar-tek-tuning.com/quickshi ... e-fmvag5qs

I also found this one
https://creationsmotorsport.com/index.p ... shift.html

so I'm curious whether someone has any experience or is using any of the available 5-speed short shifters.
Thanks!

I searched a while back as well. I have the MQ200 02U 6-speed. The shift tower is different from others so didn't find much that would work out of the box.

Might be lucky slapping some stuff together, or getting ideas from, dieselgeek.

If I had the time and ability to be without a vehicle I would be trying to figure out to build one. Unfortunately, single-car household needs car.
