Can’t seem to se the PR for brakes?

Post by andy198712 »

Hi,

Looking to replace the front brakes on the mums polo,

Wanted to check it against the PR sticker before ordering but can’t seem to see the one relating to brakes? (Having put them into a converter I found a link for here)

Am I just missing it?
It’s a 2015 1.4tsi 150bhp blue motion trim

Trying to add an attachment of it but saying board quota reached, will keep trying

One thing to do if you are looking after a VW Group car is, drop into any VW dealership's parts department, and ask (nicely) for a printout of that car's CAR DATA by giving them the reg number, that will give you all or most of the production options for that car, I do that every time any of my close family get a new VW Group car, no proof of ownership is required so very easy for you to do.

Also, all the data and brake models are in the maintenance manuals (PDF) that upon payment (small fee) can be downloaded from erWin.

Example (6R)

I’ll ask next time I’m in there, as we have a golf too so worth while doing
Thanks :)

In an hour you have time to download all the PDFs of a vehicle (even many more).
If you have a good and fast network connection, I recommend creating a new folder on your desktop and downloading all the PDF files there without interruptions, that is, do not wait for a PDF to download to start downloading the next one, do it continuously . Download even PDF files that you think you won't need (different engines than yours, etc.).

Later you can save the folder to another storage location and sort the files according to content.

The advantage of these PDFs is that the information is updated (even for old models), and that it is direct information from the manufacturer.

Something strange because, on internet I found the 2019 revision for my 6C and on erWin, it's 2017....

See for the engine:

It depends on the vehicle model from which the PDF is downloaded.
In the first image you show the PDF is probably downloaded for Golf and includes other models, the second image will probably be downloaded for the Polo and does not include other models.

I'll admit to having a "dumbhead or old fart" moment a few years ago when I was desperate to try to nail down a battery draining issue with my older daughter's then car, a 2009 SEAT Ibiza, and reg'd with erWin and started PRINTING OFF wiring schedules - well with a slow printer that ran out of paper when I was not looking and also an ink cart, AND a slow broadband connection - you can imagine that did not go too well - oh and I was printing it off single sided, which I suppose saved some time!!!

I think that we are still using up the one sided printed sheets as scrap paper to this day.

Ah well, I've only ever fallen down that "hole" once!

Anyway, at the end of the day or year, I had been correct from the start, it was not a wiring issue but a BCM software issue - which took me a year and 2 dealerships to sort out, very easily in the end!!!

Edit:- I often think that I should re-visit erWin SEAT, VW and Audi and download the latest versions of all that "stuff" as my copies are now quite old, just in case anything has changed.

Well, in my case, currently, the files are downloaded quickly.
It is true that about 10 years ago everything worked much slower than it does today, the connections were often interrupted and it was almost a miracle when the download was finished (hours of waiting, nocturnal nightmare 🤦‍♂️).

I previously used ELSAWIN (downloaded from who knows where) both for maintenance operations and for wiring diagrams, but without a doubt it became obsolete and I preferred to have the information updated through PDF files rather than having to reload another new version of ELSA that is pirated and not updated.

An example of how I have the maintenance tasks for our Golf organized by 'groups': (files renamed with the groups they contain - 10-28, 20, 27 90-97, etc -)
Image
... because in previous steps of many tasks you have to see the information in other/different groups.
The PDF file of the diagrams accompanies this folder for quick use.

Knowing how to use PDF files (search engine and bookmarks), and knowing how to interpret VW diagrams, everything is quick and easy to locate and understand.
