Vehicle in offline mode

Post by MikeDO »

It seems at times with this car, that as you sort one issue, another pops its head up.

The car got its first service yesterday and they also finally replaced the steering wheel. All well and good.

But and there always seems to be a "but" with this car...

The car when in the garage gets the profile on the Infotainment system set to GUEST (for customer privacy I've been told). Fair enough.
So I set it back to the PRIMARY profile (IE. me) and initially no internet connection (globe greyed out on Info screen). Then this morning the little globe lights up, great me thinks, all sorted.
Unluckily not.

The VW online app on my phone now says "Vehicle in offline mode". So no info etc. available via the VW app.

I'm also pretty sure that while the car appears to be O/L, its not actually getting any data etc. sent / received.
The SatNav is definitely not showing the live traffic updates. I know this for sure, as I got stuck in some traffic coming up to roadworks and the SatNav was showing nothing.

My profile in the car appears to be being sync'd OK (or so it says) and is set at the correct level for allowing positional info etc. Also all options appear activated in the privacy setting menu in the car.

Somewhat at a loss with this one. Other than give it a few days and see if it sorts itself!

Anyone experienced similar???

PS. There are complaints on the VW ID forum about this but with no concrete resolution.
Got to be honest, these sorts of software problems are one of the things that put me off considering an electric car (especially a VW).

Usually takes a day to restore the connection.
Try tomorrow.
You could also reset the Systems, by holding the on/off for 10-15 sec untill system reboots.

Worked for me a few times

My first blue gti would not connect no matter what. Had to reject it and the replacement seems fine the last ten months.

If it worked before the service I’d give it a day, try a hard reset then call dealer to flag it up.

My History log from my scanner has 95 pages to it and god knows how many adjustment or entries for addons..

You can see some of them easily.. not enabled/enabled etc along with variable settings for many. This is just the bits you can see! There is a lot of room now for programming error, sadly 😢

Before getting this 2019 Polo I had a Polo 9N3 TDi 2006.. in comparison it was a noisy dinosaur and took me some time to get used to all of the 'new and wonderful' features. I still like it but software has caused problems in the past; mimicking a GPF problem (in some ways) was one of them.

Don't think that VW are alone in this.. an elderly lady I know had a Kia Sportage (4 yrs ago) and the keyless entry system caused no end of problems.. mostly stranding her. He Ford is not dissimilar in being inconsistent though not stranding her.. presently.

As suggested, I exercised patience (something I freely admit I'm not good at) and finally it appears to have come back to life.

Can't help but think that VW maybe needs to do a bit more work on some of their software. No way would I want one of their electric cars (from looking at one of the ID forums!).
While a lot of these toys are useful (but not really necessary). They are only any good if they work.

Fingers crossed, that after one year and counting, the car sails on faultlessly :)

To save starting another thread.

I'm sure that I used to be able to view live petrol prices via the SatNav! Or am I thinking about my previous car (old age catching up with me).
Anyone ???

If your vehicle is showing as offline mode, it usually means the system can't establish a network connection. This can happen due to poor signal, a malfunctioning modem, or software issues. Try restarting the infotainment system, checking for updates, or moving to an area with better coverage. If the issue persists, contact your vehicle's support or visit a service center to diagnose potential hardware or network configuration problems. nulls brawl
