Dashcam Power Supply Fuse

Post by petercr »

Just purchased a 2022 RLine and trying to fit front dashcam.

So far unable to find correct fuse to provide power when ignition is on..........F43 rear wiper turns the dascam on/off when the engine is turned off for junctions etc

I'm not looking for power to the cam when parked with ignition off

Any help appreciated

I also hardwired my dashcam I had 3 wires
I have red on F24, yellow on F48 and black I simply attached to a bolt on the chassis next to the fuse box.

Similar issues I think - trying to hardwire a dashcan into my Missus 2022 polo (facelifted version with thin VW badges).

She wants the parking functions to work so I need a permanent power connection and an 'accessoroes on" one. But here is a pic of the fusebox

F24 (5 Amp - Display unit Front Info Display) would seem to be a match for the permanently powered connection but for the accessory powered fuse, F48 dosen't seem to have any electrical connections in the slot and F45 only seems to have connections on one side.

Am I missing something here? Or is there another fuse I should pick up on.

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction

Cheers - Baldrick

If your using a pigy back type, you can run off its own fuse, here is a picture of mine.

If you look at the fuse box your see like single pin, some will be constant some will be when cars on. Can test with a meter or trial and error,
It's were vw, if the device was installed there then would be a 2nd pin in the slot with fuse.

Thanks for the advice. In the end I did go with F24 for the constant power and F45 for the accessory connection. The connections on the one side of F45 are delivering 12v but I would say thet gripped securely on only 1 side of the fuse, its not the most tightly retained fuse tap you'll ever see
