Hey guys,
Looking for some assistance.
I have a 1.4 comfortline Polo MK5 6R Vivo 2018 model in South Africa.
I am in the process of upgrading the front brakes.
I bought the complete housing with calipers, wheel bearings, etc from a 1.8 Gti 9n3 Polo in hopes of just bolting on the setup
Anything to take into consideration when attempting to fit these? A question of the Ball joints being different has come up. Wondering if anyone has done a similar mod before, any info will be highly appreciated.
I am unsure if the wheel bearings are the same or will fit but from the research I've done it seems that they have the same spline count and may potentially work.
I am aware that the 9n3 & 6R ball joints are different. I was hoping that I could use the existing 6R ball joints on the 9n3 Knuckle/Carrier or the 9n3 ball joints on the 6r which will bolt to the control arm.
Alternatively, I sell everything I've purchased and just put new discs and pads on the 6r (which I don't want to do) as they are small and look whack.
Side note: This is solely for aesthetics not so much performance however would be nice to have considering the future plans for motor swap.

Re: Polo 6R Brake Upgrade
If your SA built Polo has the same front axle als the Spain built 6R, you should be perfectly fine.
Just make sure you code your ABS controller too, to safely and effectively utilize your new brake configuration

Thanks bud! Just having trouble locating the rubber which fits on the slider pin now. I managed to get all the other seals/rubbers.
Hoping to fit soon.

Update:
The big Brake upgrade install was a success!
Polo 6R now running 1.8 GTI 9n3 brakes 288mm rotors.
I now want to upgrade to the 312mm discs as they look better I will enjoy the current set up for a bit until I source the next lot of stuff.

Hey @iichel,
I will do a full write-up and include pictures.
Just one more thing I need to know is if the VCDS should or must be updated accordingly?
If so what do I need to change or where do I need to change it.
Side note: I've also upgraded the rear drum setup to disc brakes a few years ago but never made any chnages to the vcds.

Re: Polo 6R Brake Upgrade
Ideally, yes, but coding depends on the module (ABS, ESP, 8.2, 9,0, etc)
