But I just founded also MOTUL GEAR POWER FE 75W with almost the same specs...
My god, this story has no end
![Shocked ](./images/smilies/icon_eek.gif)
Never ending story thanks to the viscosity and chemical mixture differences ! Makes it hard to choose an oil even when it meets the VW specs.
I saw the MOTUL one yesterday .. but oh well I've already found enough, lol.Le_Combattant wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 9:54 am I just ordered 4 bottles of Top Tec MTF 5300 70W-75W.

I do not fancy spending £150 on 3l of original VW oil.I saw the MOTUL one yesterday .. but oh well I've already found enough, lol.Le_Combattant wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 9:54 am I just ordered 4 bottles of Top Tec MTF 5300 70W-75W.

Will you be using the MTF 5300 soon in your gearbox & comparing it to the FUCHS?
Ok that'll be nice to know. I shall wait before I order oil then, you can be the tester for us all, lol.Le_Combattant wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 4:17 pm I think yes.
I ordered more bottle than required to "flush" the gearbox.
Because of the s**t design, all oil can't be drained. So on the firt fill, I will drive the front wheels to "mixe" the oils and after drain the maxium I could and then, put new fresh oil.
I never tried with a vacuum but it's possible to remove more by removing some screws at the bottom.JiSingh1 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 5:49 pmOk that'll be nice to know. Is it not possible to drain it all with a tube and vacuum?
From the little cap at the bottom? I always wondered what that piece is, but the cost of the sealant for it is expensive if I am correct.Le_Combattant wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 6:15 pm I never tried with a vacuum but it's possible to remove more by removing some screws at the bottom.
Not the cap, I tried on the first oil change but I didn't remove it.JiSingh1 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 7:15 pmFrom the little cap at the bottom? Another thing is, it seems the original VW oil is not a pure synthetic, but is a Ester based formulation, from what I have been told.

Why are you reconsidering?Le_Combattant wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 7:28 pm EDIT: Now I'm reconsidering my purchase.
Liqui Moly or Wolf 75 FE ?
After a night of reflextion, I will stuck with Liqui Moly.JiSingh1 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 9:59 pmWhy are you reconsidering?Le_Combattant wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 7:28 pm EDIT: Now I'm reconsidering my purchase.

The Liqui Moly is only recommended for VW it seems, whereas the Wolf is more rounded for other brands.
Also, the formulations seem different. Liqui Moly is the brand I have heard of before, but never heard of Wolf before.
lol, fair enough. hope it works out,Le_Combattant wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 9:05 am After a night of reflextion, I will stuck with Liqui Moly.
Could be an issue ?JiSingh1 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 1:25 pmlol, fair enough. hope it works out,Le_Combattant wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 9:05 am After a night of reflextion, I will stuck with Liqui Moly.
I think the main additive for VW is ester. It is also present in the Fuchs oil, but it doesn't have it in the liqui moly, from what I can tell?
REACH # 01-2119493620-38
EC 931-384-6
Hard to know. It doesn't seem present in many oils though. I would still think viscosity matters more than additives and the liqui moly is very good at this when warm.Le_Combattant wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 3:47 pmCould be an issue ?JiSingh1 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 1:25 pmlol, fair enough. hope it works out,Le_Combattant wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 9:05 am After a night of reflextion, I will stuck with Liqui Moly.

In the Fuchs document, where did you see the ester additive ?
