Adding remote central locking to base model polo

Post by Owen Boxley »

I have a 2010 base model polo and was wondering if or how to add remote central locking OEM style. I currently have to lock my car with the key in the door method. I would like to have the remote fob so i can lock it with the buttons. i have read on other forums that i may need to upgrade my bcm unit to a model higher then 85(which is the one i have), is this a plug and play thing or is there coding i need to do on top of it. If so what coding would need to be done. Also when it comes to the key is there anything i need to look for like mhz and part numbers so that they are compatible. Finally to code the key to the car do you do the key in ignition and lock the car method or does something else need to be done.

for central locking, you'll need an 087 bcm and new keyfobs. you need a specialist to learn the keys to the immobiliser. your keys will need to be 434MHz for anything other than the north america region. it's 315MHz for that region. coding of the new bcm and learning the remotes is can be done with a diagnostic tool like VCDS, ODIS, OBD11, etc.
