Random Polo GTI 2024 Questions!

Post by Bellevie »

Hi folks

I’m a newbie and I just took delivery of a 2024 Polo GTI on Friday, after trading in my Scirocco GT. I’m loving my new car, but have some random questions if anyone can help please.

What is this metal cover under the front passenger seat? If you push the seat too far back it reveals itself!

Also, having changed from a 3 door to a 5 door car, is this how the seat belts are supposed to be fixed to the floor? It looks like the car is missing some trim and I preferred the metal rail fixings in my Scirocco if I’m honest!

Thank you

First pic, you probably have the BEATS audio option
Second pic, with a 3 door car the seatbelt has to move when the seat folds so that's why they have the metal rod.

5 doors seats do not fold so fixed to a set point

Amazing, thanks for coming back to me Maarten. I do have the Beats audio, so it’s to do with that. Excuse my naivety; is it housing wiring for it?

I understand re the seat belt rail and the fixed anchor point; I shouldn’t look at things in so much detail!

@Bellevie; I owned a mk6 Golf GTD in 2011-2016 with the optional upgraded Dynaudio sound system. In that car, the amp for the Dynaudio system was located under the front passenger seat, so I suspect you have an amp for the Beats system under the metal cover in your picture (the subwoofer should be under the boot floor to the left of the spare wheel well).

Iam pretty sure that cover is plastic not metal ;) What makes me more interesting are the vents all around, my MY2019 don't have such vents. :? I guess the amp got hot a bit more then expected

Yes I only saw those vents in front in the facelift models
And yes, hard plastics

Speaking of random questions. I'm looking for a dashcam that would be the easiest to install (I really don't like the idea of routing cable to the fuse box, prying pillar covers, being extra careful because of airbags location etc.) and I came across Fitcamx. They provide "integrated" dashcams for variety of models, sadly there's no Polo on the list. However they have somewhat "universal" fits and they call them VW Models A, B or C. It's powered from rain sensor and after installation it looks like came with the car as OEM part, very elegant solution.

Has anyone tried to fit one of them to the FL Polo?
