Dealership emailed me that the Polo is in production now, so about 9-10 weeks from order to production these days, in case anyone was wondering.
Edit: or maybe even less, considering usual summer break at the factory.
Any one ordered the new facelift GTI?

Re: Any one ordered the new facelift GTI?
At least 2 ships have departed from Port Elizabeth and arrived in Emden since my GTI was produced, but my salesperson is very reluctant to give me any specific info, besides "there's a good chance for collection this month". I assume it means that it's arrived in Emden, but I wasn't given any dates or status in the system. I really have no idea why there isn't any tracker available for customers.

Re: Any one ordered the new facelift GTI?
There used to be a customer tracker but it wasn’t particularly accurate and was often not updated in a timely manner. Also, some customers became very frustrated when estimated build dates often changed a number of times before moving to ‘confirmed’ and that frustration was often taken out on the VWCS team members who were the innocent party in proceedings, and could only work with the information VW provided them with (which was often no information). So the customer tracker was closed down; no bad thing IMHO as an inaccurate, poorly maintained tracker is of little or no value. With one of my VW’s, the customer tracker was showing it was still in transit from the factory when in fact I’d actually taken delivery of the car some weeks earlier!Dreamscape wrote: Tue Oct 08, 2024 10:54 pm At least 2 ships have departed from Port Elizabeth and arrived in Emden since my GTI was produced, but my salesperson is very reluctant to give me any specific info, besides "there's a good chance for collection this month". IMHO VW are very poor at communication; not just customer communication but internally within the dealership network. I wouldn’t be surprised if your dealer’s reluctance to give you any specific info is because they don’t have any information from VW to give you.

My GTI has finally arrived! Collection is scheduled for Tuesday, so 4,5 months from order. That's a lot faster than 5 years ago. Just in time to catch last bits of nice weather here, before inevitably having to switch to winter tires.
