DRL sync - Internal Ambient LEDs

Post by martinminotti »

Hi everyone,
This is my first post here, and I’m excited to join such a great community of Polo owners! :))

A couple of days ago, I retrofitted my 2020 AW1 Polo (R-Line) with some ambient lights, as my car didn’t originally come with them.
I connected the lights using a fuse tap on my cigarette lighter fuse, and everything is working fine.

Well, after this mod, the tuner in me couldn’t resist wanting more! I’d love for the LED lights to sync with the Daytime Running Lights (DRLs).
I came across an old post suggesting to connect the lights to the grey cable behind the light switch. However, I also read that this cable is dimmed…

Here’s the challenge: my LEDs are RGB, and they use a controller that requires a continuous voltage input, instead of the dimmed source that the grey cable provides...
So, my question is:

Behind the light switch, is there a cable that provides a continuous voltage and is also synced with the DRLs?

Thank you so much to anyone who can help me out—I really appreciate it! 🙏
