Polo upgrades, need some help

Post by aymericvdp »

Hello, i'm new to this forum, so i will firstly introduce,
I'm from France (i will do my best for the language), i have a polo 5 (6C) Allstar 1.2Tsi since november and i want to do some modifications.
I already added a memory for the start and stop system but i want to do some bigger mods.

Image

I want to add Heated seats so i looked at Kufatec (https://kufatec.com/en/cable-set-seat-h ... o-6c/49048), and it says that i need

Original seat heating controller
Original control unit for seat heating
Original seats with integrated seat heating mats

And i want to add the heating mats to my seats beacause they look nice in my car and don't want to change them.
But most importantly, where do i find these parts, and i want to be sure that they are the right parts, i don't want to use the wrong part and fry everything,
and also i want to be sure to have everything i need before starting the mod because i don't really want to have seats in my living room for a month

I looked at ciclo's thread but i'm not really sure if everything apply to my case as i have a 6C and the thread seems to focus on 6R models

Image

I also want to change the footwell, license plate and ceiling lights to leds, i also want to do the Daytime,
turn lights reverse and brake lights but in a later time, i just need a good place to buy the leds and maybe the coding i need to do

I think that if i buy from kufatec i can do the rear view camera at the same time.
I have an OBD Eleven for all the coding needed, so if any of you can help me i will be very gratefull, if you need me to give you any information don't mind to ask.

So thanks in advance to everyone who might help me

Find matching equipped car in a junkyard and pull the parts you need.

Aliexpress also has parts; they're usually real VW parts because the Polo is also made in China.
Things like camera can be found there.

LEDs... I recall a setting that will change the bulb type to LED to avoid errors, but I'm still in 2 minds about running LEDs because the bulb fittings are weird.
Actually think that setting just turns off bulb error checking.

Seat heating... can't help there. I'm in South Africa; it's hot enough here. :D
You should be able to transfer the covers to replacement seats.

Thanks for the reply, i didn't think of the junkyard solution that's really clever

The seat heating controller is under the seat i think and the control unit is the button on the dashboard if i'm correct (i found thoses on aliexpress so no worry for this).
I will inform myself on the LEDs to atleast get the ceiling light changed wich should when searching things in the night

Seat heating is kind of useless for south Africa

Yeah, send me airconditioned seats instead. :D

Junkyards are great. Can save a ton of money over new parts with just a little effort put in. Just did that with control arms.

I have replaced dome lights and trunk/boot lights with LED bulbs.
Much more light now even if they're a cold white colour.
Only annoyance is how they fade out. Incandescent bulbs fade smoother as the voltage steps down. With LED you kind of see the steps because they react faster, but not a real bother. Was actually surprised they did fade since some LEDs will just switch off if the voltage is too low. Depends on the LED bulb really.

I do want to get footwell lights. The fittings/holders are already under the dash and seats. Can get those off AliExpress for fair price.
I think on the 6C these would be wired into the BCM, but its easier to run a power wire up the dome light and control them with the same switch.

As for kufatec wiring harness, I personally don't recommend them. From what I've noticed with me and mates, their harnesses are very random - sometimes the wires are too long, and often too short...
IMO aliexpress kits or custom ones are better ;-)

Hey !

Thanks for the answer, i'm not going with kufatec for the heated seats but i'm hesitating between 2 kits,
the first from a french website (350€) and a kit from AliExpress (110€ x2).

(I also looked at junkyard but it's actully pretty expensive and not that easy to find heated seats at good prices in france, that's why i'm more on a finding heated seats kit way)

The aliexpress kit seems to have much more cables, it does not seems compatible from the title,
and that's the only one i found on aliexpress (maybe for climatronic units??)
i have the confirmation from the french's site that their unit is compatible with the POLO 6C but it's more expensive,

Aliexpress kit : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005973030604.html?

French site kit : https://www.vag-car.fr/6c-2014-2017-/24 ... lo-6c.html

For know i consider buying the kit from the french site wich is the less risky way,
if any of you have a recommendation on this question that would be wonderfull.
And as always thanks for the help, and the tips, that's very nice ! :D

Re: Polo upgrades : LED Lights

Post by aymericvdp »

Hello everyone !

Quick update, i bought the kit from the French website,
I think it's the best solution, not that expensive compared to the time to find seat in the junkyard wich are 150€ piece in france,
the installation process will be a fun moment i think.
I also bought dynamic indicators lights, will update you when i installed everything ! :D

I received LED Lights for the car, literally one of the best update you can do !!!

6R (PQ25) and 6C (PQ26) look the same, but are different models electrically and electronically, they share some parts, but very few are compatible with each other.
You will need a diagnostic tool to code some retrofits.

ETKA online: Here are all the original parts you may need. Very useful so you can later search for parts by reference number.

Since 2015 it is the 6C, although it is identified as 6R.

All info 6R_6C. Maintenance, etc. PDFs. (request download):

The PDFs are mixed up, you'll need to sort them by model.

Hello, OBD11 will do the job.
