I went to my local dealer today who informed me the control unit requires replacing as it is a "common" occurrence I was told. Can't say I've seen it mentioned here before, but there you go. Thankfully my maintenance plan will cover any costs incurred.

Happy Friday.
Thanks for the update.

I can’t remember reading on this or other forums before of this ‘common occurrence’ of the control unit failing, so maybe it’s not that common? As you’ve said, fortunately your maintenance plan covers the cost.
Happy Wednesday, some feed back on my one touch not working. The vehicle was booked on at 7am this morning at VW and collected it again about an hour ago. The entire experience was not bad, got to look at the '25 model GTI on the show room floor while there and was shocked at the cost for a start, the floor price new is now 32% more than I paid (before options) in 2019. The one difference I do like is the newer models leather seats which is perforated (like the Golf) and has the red GTI logo on them while mine are the std leather seats that were an option at the time of purchase. Other than that there is still no incentive for me to lay out more money for something I am happy to live with at this time.

My vehicle is under maintenance plan to 300 000KMs (currently on 120K) meaning there was no cost to me for this little adventure but at the end you still presented with an invoice. The total cost came to R2127.13 including 15% VAT. That amounts to approx. 91 of your British Pounds, not too bad right?

@OomStu_ZA; good to hear it’s been fixed and even better when there’s nothing to pay 🙂 👍.

Agree that the Polo GTI seems very expensive now and the performance would be wasted on me with the heavily congested roads I drive (one of the reasons I sold mine). I also don’t like the substitution of HVAC physical controls in the pre-facelift car with a touchpad.
