Modified Airbox

Post by diablohowes »

Hey,
Just wondering can i remove everything inside the green line?
And what kind of effect will this have on the engine and general running?

*edit For some reason the picture won't show, but this is the link to the photo.
Thanks

You can, and it would run alright, but you'd be losing both your cold air flow from behind the grille and your warm air flow for winter driving. If you want to do something to improve the cold air intake, I'd advise you unclip the intake after the hot/cold splitter, that way everything will still be fully functional. Won't make a massive difference if you don't want to do that though :)

In answer to yor original question; yes you can remove all that. Even though it does provide a ramair effect into the engine, it is very restrictive. You should also remove the air temperature switch in the throttlebody elbow as all this does is control the warm air feed - which you are taking off! :P This will improve airflow in that area.
