I have a Polo 6r 1.2 which the wiper do not work on the intermittent setting (1st click up). I do not have automatic wipers and I have already tried to replace the stalk cluster, which hasn't worked. I've been told it could be the BCM, but all other functions on the cluster work. No faults on the dash and no fault codes on diagnostics.
The only strange thing is if you click up the stalk, and then click it back down to intermittent, the wipers swipe once.
Can anyone help with this

Re: intermittent wiper not working
I'd start with checking live values for the stalk possition in BCM under live data.
Its not a bad idea to have any sort of scanner that can do this if you plan to work on your car.

Re: intermittent wiper not working
are you sure you don't have automatic wipers? do you have a sensor behind the rear view mirror? the behaviour certainly sounds like you have, but i'm jumping to conclusions, i know

Re: intermittent wiper not working
Hi. I definitely do not have automatic wipers. It's not optioned with the car, not is on the stalk itself.

Re: intermittent wiper not working
I seem to remember a 2005 Polo where if the bonnet switch wasn't made that the wipers would not work intermittently but was ok otherwise, easy enough to check if you pop open the bonnet but don't lift it and see does this inhibit all wiper operation, it does on a 2019 model. If it also inhibits all on your model then not the problem.reflexpolo6r wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 9:06 pm I have a Polo 6r 1.2 which the wiper do not work on the intermittent setting (1st click up). Re: intermittent wiper not working
Checked bonnet catch. All is ok. Struggling to see what else it could be as it's only the interval setting not working. Surely the whole wiper stalk would top working

Re: intermittent wiper not working
If the bonnet is not closed properly or the switch/sensor is faulty then IMO either all wiper functions should stop working like they do in my family 2019 Polo but for some reason or other its only the intermittent function that stops working in the 2005 Polo still in the family.reflexpolo6r wrote: Sat Jun 07, 2025 9:51 pm Checked bonnet catch. Presume you are saying that all wiper functions stop when you spring the bonnet on your model?

Re: intermittent wiper not working
Yes. Wipers stop working when bonnet is opened. Everything is in working order apart from the interval wiper.
