How to get adriod auto working

Hope someone can help me, I've just brought a Polo 2017 recently, and I just can't get the andriod auto working on it, i've checked the installed codes *Swap's) and it has all three installed : mirror link, andriod auto and apple carplay. When I go into the submenu of where is has link data to VW below this has Mirror Link, there's no way of deselecting or removing it, it's permanently there. Then when I go to the menu where all 3 are shown, they are all greyed out, I've attached a usb cable still nothing shows up (i've tried 3 other cables, they all are charging the phone, but not linking it to the car system).

Any one got any ideas, on a second point, the DAB radio doesn't seem to pick up all the stations, is this just the poor antenna on the polo causing this? As My sister has a BMW 1 series and she has literally 100's of stations, on the polo, I probably only get around 20 - 25 being picked up.

I’m guessing you have paired the phone to the vehicle first right ? Via Bluetooth ?
