GTi Fuel Grade
GTi Fuel Grade
I’m picking up a new Gti next week. Does it run on 95 ron or super?

Re: GTi Fuel Grade
I always ran my current shape pre-facelift 2020 Polo GTI+ on normal 95 RON unleaded (usually supermarket petrol from Tesco) and it ran absolutely fine for the 4 years I owned it. VW stated the minimum fuel grade for the pre-facelift car was 95 RON (see page 21; Technical information in the UK Press Information literature - link below)

I dare say the current (facelift) Polo GTI will also run perfectly well on standard 95 RON unleaded, although some owners may use higher octane super unleaded as there may be marginal performance and economy gains. I think there’ll be a sticker inside the fuel filler flap which states the minimum octane rating of fuel to be used in the car. If not, fuel information should be in the owner’s manual. Sorry, can’t check for you as I no longer own my GTI. I doubt any fuel the dealer might put in your new car before you collect it will be super unleaded.
There’s an interesting blog at the link below on whether or not it’s worth using premium fuel;
