Hi,
My 1.2 MPI 59hp Polo 6r burns 1l oil every 200 miles. i have checked the plugs and plug 1 and 2 were really tight, i think stuck down by carbon and full of oil whereas plug 3 was clean and not too tight. The intake tube is clean and has no oil on it but i can hear a slight hiss from what i think is the PCV engine block breather. Do you think that it is both burning oil from PCV and piston rings, or something else? The chain went previously and I had the head rebuilt, but the mechanics said there was no piston damage so they didnt put new piston rings on.
Hopefully something can stop the oil burning so much, as its costing a lot of money in oil!
Thanks in advance.

That is a lot of oil being consumed, one route would be worn valve guides in the head, though I'm not sure if inserts are fitted or holes just drilled into the head. PCV system along with oil separator need checking also before considering the valve guides.

Thank you. All guides and valves were replaced (both intake and exhaust) when the head was rebuilt, but im definitely going to change the pcv system to check if that fixes it as well.

definitely change the pcv valve. And put some other brand of oil. There are many brands that fit the specification needed for your engine.

Did that fix the oil consumption? I have a similar problem with oil as you do.
