Sourcing Heated Windscreeen

Post by rorybrks »

Hello All,

I have been trying to source a heated windscreen (6RU 845 011 JNVB) but with no luck.
I am based in the UK, and have tried LLLparts, and oemVWshop. LLLparts refused the order, and oemVWshop intially said that they would be able to get it, but have now said that they cannot get it at the moment because supplies are limited.
Does anyone know if they are still possible to get and if anyone would be able to get one to me in the UK.

Thanks,
Rory

Why not go thru the dealer? Maybe they can source it directly.

My local dealership (Marshalls) had no idea what it was when I gave they the part number and gave me a quote for a replacement screen of what I have currently fitted, and I find them to be unreliable.

Currently, I guess your best option is to contact a shop specializing in windshield replacements and have them check to see if there are any well-known glass manufacturers 'around here' that make a replacement for that part number intended for the Russian POLO.

I'm based in UK, and as I had access to a VW Group parts listing, EKTA, back in 2009 I accidentally requested a pair for TRE for a 2002 Polo without power steering - and I don't think that any 9N Polo was ever sold into the UK market without power steering! That was a error on my part and I had to pay maybe 15% or 20% handling charges to get them returned to stock in Germany! I didn't make mistake again!

My point being, at least at that time, VW dealerships were quite happy to order in any available to them parts even if they were never used in UK cars.

One mistake that some people make is, they try to place a parts order for their specific car, but for a part that was not fitted to that car at initial build - that is never a smart move.

I once owned a May 2000 VW Passat 4Motion, these cars were fitted with 288mm front disc brakes which had no proper protection against spray wetting the discs, in winter with that big heavy engine up front, the initial braking felt like you were accelerating, emailed VW about this and they advised that I just replace the front pads for the pads fitted to Audi A4 quattro 2.8, so off I went into my Audi dealership and requested a set of front brake pads, I accidentally admitted that they were going to be fitted to a similar VW Passat 4Motion - "sorry we only sell parts for fitting to Audi cars" - I had to revert to buying Power Discs and ATE pads from ECP - as well as the brake water deflectors which were being fitted to the newly updated VW Passat - that solved all the winter slush/ice braking - plus an early lesson learned on what not to mention when buying car parts!

I have contacted my a VW Dealership and made more progress this time. I followed RUM4MO advice and only gave the part number and they gave me more infomation.
It turns out that no one has it in the UK and VW germany doesn't have any so they are on back order.
Its a bit of a stretch, but does anyone have a contact in russia to see if they are still available there?
Thanks all

Currently, I don't know where the trade embargo applies ...to ordinary people. 😉
Fortunately, no one can impose a friendship embargo. 🤗

In any case, I sincerely wish you good luck!

Thank you!
I'm trying to gauge if it is still in production and if I have any chance of getting on or if it is end of life and impossible to get anymore. :)

Well the only official market is the Russian market.
Since there is no flow of parts there right now, I guess production has stopped now as well, since there is no demand.

That what I had assumed.
I don't understand why there is a price on ETKA(carprog2). Any ideas?

One of these "annoying but I'll probably watch it anyway in case I discover something new" car programs running in UK, did get a windscreen built some where "up North" maybe near Newcastle, so you can get one built for you, I don't know what price that cost or how much you are willing to pay. The same company might have supplied Rally cars as well as other areas of the market.

Maybe the production team from Car SOS etc, and they all seemed to be linked up in some way, could put you in touch with the company they used and the rough cost.
