Exhaust smell in cabin

Post by Klosse »

Been trying to solve this for some time on my Polo with 1.6 TDI-engine, but with no success. Was somewhat surprised when I took the hose off and noticed how very strong the flow of gas was from the exit hole (from the cylinder head, to the left on the image). By the look of the crank vent hose and its connections (on the enclosed photo), is there anything obvious wrong? Or does the smell of exhaust in the cabin have some other source, I wonder? :|

I did (see recording at link here below) and there is a leak, but would it really be enough to cause smell of exhaust in the cabin?
