Yeah, graaja has also posted a lot of helpful guides on team-bhp maybe it was some misunderstanding in communication. Either way it's cleared now. I also had another question about 12k OPS and PLA 2.0. I understand that PLA requires a different ABS sensors and power steering module, but how about just 12k OPS? I read here that it requires separate CAN. Theoretically is it possible to connect jetta's CAN gateway to BCM max(disable the internal gateway) and enable it that way? Or connect a jetta BCM(PQ35) along with the CAN gateway to the polo?

What do you need to have to install the automatic lights on your 6R?

1- BCM Max + Rain Light Sensor (can be retrofitted if necessary).


2- Wiring + Two relays + Auto light switch.

If you do not have the necessary tools/knowledge/skills/time, it is not a problem, you can have the installation done by a workshop.

Headlight Activation, Automatic.

Automatic headlight activation ensures optimum vehicle lighting at all times, without the driver having to switch the headlights on or off manually. The system offers the driver a significant gain in terms of convenience and safety. The headlights are automatically switched on by means of a dusk sensor as darkness sets in, or when driving through a tunnel in the daytime. But the headlights are also activated in rain (continuous wipe for more than 5 seconds) or at high speed (at speeds over 140 km/h for longer than 10 seconds). When the speed drops again or the wipers are switched off, the system automatically deactivates the headlights after a short time. In this way your own vehicle is more easily seen by other road users.


Coming Home Function (semi-automatic, via High Beam lever -flash-). Leaving Home Function (automatic, via Remote).

When the occupants leave the vehicle, the dipped beam headlights, the courtesy lights in the exterior mirror housings, the tail lights and the number-plate lighting initially remain on and are switched off automatically after a delay period (coming home). The same lights are switched on when the driver unlocks the doors with the radio remote control (leaving home). In this way the car’s own outside lights help to illuminate the way to and from the door of the house whenever you arrive or set off in the dark.

Coming Home function: Light switch in AUTO, ignition switch OFF, pull from HB lever -flash- once, open/-ed the driver's door, the lights will come on.
Leaving Home function: Light switch in AUTO, open the car with the Remote, the lights will come on.

Nice to meet you! I am newly registered owner of a 6R 1.6 tdi 75 ps CAYA 2010, I was with 086 BCM, tried to change it to 089 but I couldn’t read it with VCDS, it says no response from controller, and I changed it with 087 to see if it is ok, so, I am with the 87 for now.
Could you help me with information if this polo can run 89/90 BCM and what else I need to buy besides the module?

Hi ivanv. Welcome.

What is the full part number of the BCM Max you installed/tested/tried?

To install a BCM Max (089, 090, etc.), you need to adapt the wiring, primarily the wiring related to the lights. Depending on the factory wiring of your 6R with the original BCM 086, you may need to add a positive signal 'to activate/wake-up the diagnostics' when installing a BCM Max.

Physically check the pinout of the three BCMs you have: 086, 087, and 089. The absence of pins on the 086 will likely indicate the positive signal/new wire required for the BCM Max diagnostics.
