steering wheel airbag help

Post by Lewis_polo12 »

Hi, so I've got a polo 6r 2012 match. the original steering wheel had no buttons. I got a leather steering wheel as an upgrade with the buttons on the left. so just a couple of questions if anyone can help.
the new airbag fits and the yellow look connector is the same so it goes in and there's no lights on the dash, however the airbag doesn't work.
apparently non mfsw airbags are a physical analogue connection and the mfsw airbags work by a digital signal.
it is possible to get the airbag working through coding or not?
also same question with the buttons I'm not too fussed if I cant with just coding but I'm more fused about having a working horn, for obvious reasons.
any help would be great. thanks

The standard steering wheel airbag wiring does not work for MFSW.
You have to install the right one for the installed steering wheel.

ETKA:
3C8971584E (standard) vs 5K0971584C /D, etc (MFSW)

On the other hand:
For the buttons to work, you need to add two wires: one positive with a +15 signal, and one LIN wire for communication.
There's a tutorial here on the forum.

'Sometimes' (not in all cases) the BCM needs to be coded for both the horn and the MFSW.

I have this type of wiring for your MFSW. If you have a PayPal account, find the best price online and I'll beat it.🤷‍♂️

This genuine airbag wiring harness for MFSW + genuine control unit (for 6R manual transmission) + Tech support to make your life really easy are available to any user with some brainpower. 30€ + shipping.
Easy and safe (ciclo): if you need them, contact me by PM.
(any time)

I hope that this time 'my' images don't disappear and that the algorithm shows them when searches are performed... and please, don't interrupt with that interspersed and unbearable advertising. THANKS!

thanks for the reply and help dude, however I know that the standard airbag doesn't work for mfsw so the one I have in is the mfsw airbags (it came with the wheel when I bought it) that wiring looks too complicated for me to do for the buttons so I'll deal with that later. but my main issue is that the horn doesn't work
I have that wiring pictured it came on the airbag, everything is plugged in and the large yellow connector is same type/size it's just the horn not working
yet again thanks tho
do you reckon the new airbag for the mfsw just needs some coding with my car to get the airbag to work

Pay attention,'if you do not install the wires for the multifunction buttons', you need to install the wire indicated in the diagram above 'for the horn' and perhaps/probably code/enable the following bit in the BCM:

Note: Your airbag is currently working, yes or yes.
