Help with jacking up car with a dsg

Post by James00749 »

Hi there, I’m new here and have a question, I have a 2025 polo gti and I want to paint the rusty hubs that can be seen behind the wheels, what I would like to know is if I do a corner at a time should car be in park or neutral as I want to spin the disk to paint, and more so concerned about the front while one wheel is on ground and other is in air, I’ve never owned a Auto or dsg before and didn’t want to cause any faults, thanks :D

I've worked on the brakes of my older daughter's 2019 Leon Cupra - ie a car with DSG, and I've always left it in neutral, as you must if you want to rotate the front hubs.

Handbrake on when working on the front wheels, in Park if necessary without the handbrake on if working on the rear hubs.

I tend to place wedges at every wheel that I'm not working on - for a bit of safety.

Ignition not on.

The car will complain a lot if left in this state, but once the door is closed it quietens down!
