uk-polos review the New Polo GT

Post by dxg »

Hello everyone,

uk-polos are (again with the assistance of Volkswagen UK) pleased to present our review of the GT.

This summer saw the arrival of VAG’s immensely popular 130PS TDI and six-speed gearbox package to the Polo range in the form of the “GT.â€

Good review... only up for some little comments...
“There’s nothing on the outside to make you think ‘Wow, I’ve just seen a Polo GT!’“
Well, the mk3 one was always kinda subtle as well - you could argue more so than the new one (but for the badge). Those 205s have gotta be a dead giveaway for a start.
Though of course this car is really more of a G40 successor than a GT one.... Forced induction? Check. Over 110hp/120mph/sub 10-sec 0-60? Check.... comparitively low revving? Check! ;) so could maybe benefit from a little more stylin'

specification oddities etc
I want one in yellow, with split folding leather seats (what's "colour concept"?). Goddamnit.

A DSG transmission wouldn't go amiss neither, if it could deal with the torque thrown at it. (and some kind of stop/start and/or hybrid system)... hmm.

What's this about people thinking it has no pedals :D

And, goddamn that car is heavy. 1300kg for a polo GT?!? you sure thats not a golf v5?

might aswell add my 2c.....

been reading the review as it was put together, and to be honest it wasn't looking good for the gt!

However, my dad is in the market for a sportish new diesel and i think its the gt that he will be going for! he'd rather have the go and not too much show, if everyone knows what i mean? ok so it could maybe do with a few more exteriors extras etc

just got to organise a test drive now for him

Tahrey, when I wrote my review (which I'm more than happy to stick in here?) I mentioned in my introduction that the original GT was a subtle car, with only minor differences that made it stick out to the trained eye.

In this case though, its not the point. VW had prototyped this car as a hot hatch...now look at it!
