What's that under the rear seat?

Post by Petrified »

I've just lifted up the rear seats to wire in the rear speakers.
Cool design, a lot easier than the old ones... what's that socket thing underneath? and can I use power from it to run an amp?

What size / shape is it? Where is it?

Some of the golfs have cd changer connections in the boot.

Is it definately not the fuel tank take-off you're talking about?

Also, how did you lift the seats??

Deek.

I'm pretty confident that's the top of the fuel tank. Don't know what the box is for, though. Obviously the level sensor - but why 12V - a pump?? I'd recommend leaving well alone, atm...

Hopefully someone "in the know" will let us out of our misery...

"Lifting the seats" -- doh!! I now know what you meant! - pictures, 1000 words, all that...

Hello! Polo2K! come on your slacking a bit now!

My guess is that it could be either the fuel pump or the fuel level monitor. But it does look similar to a fuel cut off valve on the RS turbos. thats something that cuts the fuel off if the car rolls, but i'm not sure if the Polo has this or not?

You would probably find that a power supply from this wouldn't really run you amp very well, if at all.

With amps your always better getting a feed straight from the battery.

Well it's good to know what these things are. :)

I've run the cable from the battery now, picked up one of those amp kits.
We'll soon see if it all works when I finally get an amp. I've been looking at the new kenwood 4 channel one, cant remember which model...
