gti suspension height

Post by mikegti »

just wondered if anyone can tell me how much lower the gti sits than other mk5's?

I ask cos I've found some springs that claim to lower -30mm, but they also seem to fit other models in the range... so will I get any drop at all?

http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/frame- ... ension.htm

should I go for the sportline kit? that lowers more at the front but I dont want to go over the -35mm limit allowed by my insurance...

cheers!

I know you've recommended H&R in the past, but I'm having trouble finding them on the internet!

are they just springs for the GTi and do they actually lower the gti 35mm?

cheers

Mike,

The H&R ones are specifically for the GTI so that may be a reason why you are having problems getting hold of them.

I had some Eibach Pro-kit fitted on mine but it made very little difference, like you mentioned, they fitted other models in the range, JBS kindly complained to Eibach and I got some Sportline ones, which are meant to lower by 50mm but have probably only lowered it by 30-40mm (wouldn't you agree Josh?). The Eibach springs are probably harder and so take some time to bed.

The Sportline ones are great, they have improved the handling and the looks but you do sacrifice some of the ride as it's a lot more bumpy and harsh.

ok cheers for the help lads, thats cleared up the confusion!

Don't think I want a really harsh ride, just a bit less roll through the bendy bits, so H&R look favourites...

Mike,

Ah...since you've made you mind up about the H&R's, I've just seen in the for sale section that Josh is selling his, would you be interested? They would be in good nick as Josh loves his car!

I guess he could bring them down to the Polo show if you planning on attending also, best PM him first!
