Brake noise. New pads? they look fine..... options?

Post by live2themaxuk »

Hi all,

ok i have started to really notice a cuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrr noise coming from my brakes when i apply them obviously. More noticeable at low speeds Seems to be front and rear. I can also see almost what looks like almost 'smudges' from the brake pad on the disc. Almost like the pad is smadging over the disc as it does round, they arnt nice and shiny as such. Im thinking new pads all round, though visiably they look fine, not worn too much. Cars only done 10k and its a late 2001.

What are some options for pads?

Pagid Fast Road (now replaced by what?)

EBC Green stuff (only work well when hot so i hear)

Im after some lower dust ones as ive got some new alloys i wonna put on but ATM the BBS's as suffered with the standard blocks.

any help appreciated

Don't mix discs and pads... some pads are good, but they need hard wearing discs. If you use standard discs with high performance pads, you're likely to get problems with the discs overheating on braking or wearing much quicker. Performance discs + performance pads is a good combination. As for the smudges on your discs... must be excessive brake dust from the pads - change the pads if I were you.
