yea man your no doubt right, im bound to be reducing the life of it a little i suppose, but then again you always hear about people saying "Veedubs go for thousands of miles more than a rival car'
i juse like hearing ma BMC change its tone haha woohoo !
I do service it all the time though and replace anything that needs it straight away, so i guess i dont mnistreat it that badly. Like u said in a diff post Tahrey1043 whats the point in having a big engined car if your gonna do 30 mph everywhere?
your simply just posing like a sap :¬P

Had a hard time last night convincing a co-worker that they needed to service their 1.4 Ibiza or maybe get it to a garage pronto because "i was well chuffed last night, got it up to 100 downhill - mind you thought it was going to fall apart at 80!" .... eek. I could beat you in a race mate, and i'm effectively a cylinder short of you - sort that bugger out!
Maybe they're not people feathering the throttle in overpowered cars... perhaps they're all really badly tuned?

My old 1.0 mk3 Fox gave 40mpg around town and I had 53mpg out of it on a long motorway trip (probably at 53mph...). My current 6n 1.3 seems quite poor in comparison though I've not had a chance to check it properly yet. I'm annoyed to find the gearing similar to my GT; fine on the GT as they encourage high revs but damn annoying on a daily plodder that seems to spend most of it's time past peak torque
My GT? That used to get down to about 23mpg, somehow I never seemed to drive it gently. I blame the head, Schrick, decat and chip
My mk1 gives mid 30s; unfortunatley it's underpowered in modern traffic and needs working quite hard just to keep up with slow moving traffic
For best cheap daily driver economy I'd suggest a mk3 1.0 with an ABD throttle body, remap and 8p box. The ABD tb helps torque noticeably, made a very worthwhile improvement for the 20 it cost me

Well if the in-game modern VW boxes i've used are representative of the real thing, they're heinously short.... What you get on a 1.4 Lupo - quite long, you would think - is basically a mk3 1-litre 5 speed with a diff thats barely higher than the 8P... Its probably a little shorter in top than the GT box!
