Does rain water affect BMC induction kits.

Post by M@Turner »

I was just wondering if rain water got into the cold air feed for my BMC induction kit, would it cause any problems?

At the minute i've fed the air feed to behind the grill (a little like dubpolo), and would imagine quite a lot of rain water will go through the grill when i'm driving around in the rain.

you want to avoid having the feed where it will suck up water , it should be ok as long as say in a flood it wont suck up like a straw!

My old car had a air feed at the front grill and rain etc is not a problem. What you have to avoid is submersing the air feed in water if there's a flood or hosing up it when cleaning.

Yeah, water doesn't cause a problem other than corrosion. But obviously if it dunks under water like in a flood or storm and your engine hydraulics then it will screw it completely. But that is true with the normal intake too.
