Argh, that's a real bugger.. you'd think they'd at least have the courtesy to remove it properly, wouldn't you.. would have been easier to do properly anyway, must have been a real moron who took it :( Like the moron who nicked my radio by smashing off the radio holder from the dashboard
Managed to get anything from the CCTV yet? Good luck getting the little git responsible..

well when you're aching for your next syringe full of smack cut with horse tranqs, you're not particularly arsed about technique so long as you have something you can sell for a couple of twenty pound notes to some nova driver down the Dog and Pooperscooper

i went out to a local pub for a bizzare night of bizzareness, when my friend came rushing back in to tell me my mk1 had been ransacked. pinched my beautiful kenwood cd player, BRAND NEW alpine amp, 10" kenwood sub, my BRAND NEW £150 halfords socket set, a jacket, and something else rediculous like a pair of trainers or something!

A sat and cried on the curb and shouted and kicked a lamp post (bad move)

this is where we come to the conclusion that the first mod you should ever fit is an alarm, preferably one that electrifies the entire interior after 10 seconds (enough time to bust in thru the passenger door, get the bonnet up and disconnect the battery - just..) except for the place where you and only you know where the killswitch is?

For all of you that say you have had your car broken into, out of interest, did any of you have alarm systems?

Well I didn't but I will have soon - bit sad when you have to fit one to a polo - the LC and senny are armed to the hilt - the monza you can get into with a screwdriver and I frequently do and the CDX estate I leave open most of the time - you wouldn't want to get in it - it's minging!!!!

Yep - but make sure it has visible notification of it's presence or it won't be a deterent - sure it will go off but it's a bit late when they muller a window or a door......

I like the high voltage idea but I don't think any alarm company will be brave enough to sell it

It is only valid as long as it has some legal base. AFAIK (of course I may be terribly wrong, I'm not English and don't the law there) the objects left in cars thing is a no-brainer as long as you can prove the objects were there in the first place.

(a receipt for the purchase and/or installation of the stereo works a treat over here)
Well I think I might chance my arm on that one - it's only gonna cost me the price of a stamp and a couple of mins to write a letter

summut along the lines of

Whilst staying in your hotel - I paid the additional charge of £5 to secure my car in the internal hotel car park rather than on the street alongside - I feel that this charge leaves you liable for the damage and loss etc etc

I'll let you know how I get on

PS I won't be claiming on my insurance 8 yrs no claims is hard earned and the drop back to 6 will cost me £100 a year

Its a real frustration these days how people like you and me spend their hard earned money on their cars, houses, etc only for the unsavoury characters out there to take advantage. The reason? Well in most cases it seems to be because these unsavoury characters are spending their hard earned money on 'colourful' habits and need a 'quick buck' to sustain themselves. The fool should have his teeth extracted using pliers  .

i wasnt thinking along the lines of one thats sold - i was pondering more DIY south african lines...

then again a thing that blows CS gas in the direction of the windows on detecting a breakage would do the trick as well

oooh, karl...... that's nasty. i know it would bloody well stop me from offending..
