Smokers cough?

Post by PoloGTi »

This morning at about 6:30 I was driving to work and as I accelerated on the slip road my car just refused to go any quicker so I changed up a gear and it accellerated then when it hit 5,000 revs it did the same thing. I when I pulled off I tried every gear to get it passed 5,000 revs and it just wouldnt.

It was as if not enough air was getting to the engine, it was -2oC outside and when I came home this afternoon it was fine again.

Has anybody else experienced anything like this?

Someone else had this

...it was the cam belt tensioner causing the engine to hick-up.

I ocassionally had this problem as well I think it is because the car still thinks it hasn't warmed up yet and is still on choke. I mentioned it to dealer, but they could never find a fault.
The quickest method to cure it is to restart the engine worked every time for me.

My car does the same (before and after my cambelt woes) and my garage have said that there is a temperature sensor which lowers the soft cut rev limiter until the engine warms up..

Then again they could just be talking cr4p
