A-Pillar Water Leak

Post by The Broon »

Has anybody experienced a problem with water in the passenger footwell?

I've just had mine in for this as both front and back footwells were soaked.
Apparently my A-Pillar was full of water!
The dealer say they have re-sealed around this area and done a water test and say it doesn't leak anymore. I'm still waiting for the carpet to be replaced, so I'm not entirely sure its ok until I can get a properly dry carpet.

I later find out after the car had been in that there is a very little known problem with a dodgy weld between the a-pillar and the bulkhead and this is where water is leaking into the footwell. Apparently to access this area the front nearside wing neads to be removed to get at the weld to address and seal it. This clearly hasn't been done, so I may be back!

Has anyone else come accross this problem?

Yeah there have been other reports of this in the past.

Go to the search criteria, put "leak" in the key words section then change the forum to "new polo". You'll find a couple of posts in there on the subject of leaks, one of which sounds similar to what you said. :)
