Down Hill???

Post by Polo-03 »

Just been on the "New Polo" forum and something got my attention.
Now I dont wanna start a big arguement but it was something that was said.
Do you think that uk-polos is going down hill?
Fair enough we have lost two of our biggest names ie Josh and mole but what about the rest Nelson etc...???
Now ok I have been a member of uk-polos for nearly 2 years but have only every posted a handful of times. But Iam always on here at least once or twice a DAY. I know people like me dont help by not posting.
Are there people running the forum down? Are people fed up? There isnt really alot of "chat" anymore. I dunno is it just me that feels like this? Dont get me wrong I still wanna represent uk-polos at the highest but just wanted to know the general thoughts.
Im sure everyone is fed up hearing and seeing the same people on every night (no names).
Uk-polos needs to atract the like of bart (sbp) but when was the last time he was on?

Come on lets do something about this, lets get the old Uk-polos back!!!

I agree with some of your points. We need more creative posters on here, showing us some good, class, practical mods for Polos. sbp, speedlaw, mole and nelson_wilbury are the people that started it all off, and got our creative juices flowing.

Anyone can bolt on wheels and tat and talk about it again and again, but people that go one step further (sbp!) are the people I respect the most.

The problem is...what can be done? A lot of things have been covered, VW aren't doing much for the Polo at the moment, hence the possibilty of everything drying up.

Also, its the winter...I'm always ratty in the winter as it's too cold to work on the cars, or drive them with much satisfaction.

Roll on March, when the sun starts to come out.

If I was arsed, I'd make the Ibiza an extreme project, but I'm not, so its not gonna happen.

I just think boredom is creeping in on some of us...

Hmmm...interesting...

The forum is what it's members make of it and it's doing well in terms of membership, I'm sure Josh will agree that it is growing by the day, there never seems to be a day where there isn't a new member.

I don't think that we are running out of topics, especially in the chat area, I can never seem to keep up! Although I do believe there is lack of input from the newer members as it is always the familiar faces (signatures!) that are present. I feel that we provide a service to our member and we are meeting the needs of our members, fair enough many post with their queries only to be never seen again...how can we attract and retain these members I'm not sure...I don't feel like we are an unfriendly bunch so it can't be that...

I agree it is the winter months and I don't even feel like washing the car let alone tinker with it, the show season is well and truely over and there is little in terms of meets as everyone is getting ready for the festive season and saving money.

I think we'll be fine...come the new year there will be new members and new owners discovering the love for their Polos...roll on 2005 I say!

not a student any more

cant afford to spend 6 hours on one website :D

it is a bit quiet in here, but i'm hanging on - boards come and go after all, and the off chance of a come is always welcome. maybe need to infiltrate porka a bit more and do some name dropping (surely theres folk there who would appreciate somewhere thats a little less than the unmitigated bloody chaos of polo club? where a post more than 36 hours old is considered dead and cold and a criminal act to "dig it up" ?)

oh and flyering... must remember to find me a working printer and have some flyers printed.

A lot of the regulars have left this place because of people like Sylonien (they have told me, I'm not just making that up!).

I hope when they see that the quality of posts gets better, they will come back.

You only need to take a look at the memberslist but how many of these people ever make an apperance or post?
I know Iam one of these people who never posts but I guess we all just cant be a quiet as me. I know when I first joint there was abit of slating goin on. Are people to scared to post?
Fair enough there are guys out there who post all the time ie Sylonien but he has carried out a fair amout of mods and has helped me, so am not gonna slag him. Yes I do get fed up seeing his name on every post but does this give us the right to give up a great forum?
We say the forum NEEDS people like sbp, Nelson, Josh etc... but hey we do need people like Sylonien. Ok he may not be everyones cup of tea but he is loyal, he's on every night for that "new member" needing info.
Thats what every forum needs abit of everything.

Dont just give up a forum because you dont like one or two people.
I can remember when the "New Polo" forum was really good! Now there is like only ever a couple of new threads a week.
I visit lots of forums mostly Audi or Vw and if a post is older than a day nobody looks at it because its too far back.

Yep, plenty of Porka emmigrants will be coming this way soon!!

That's what made me join in the first place - things periodically get out of hand over there!!

*It would help if I didn't have to sign in EVERY TIME I came on the forum!!
