carrot you still looking for trims, apparently a scrappie near me has just got an F-reg in. me mum told me because she thought it would be useful for parts (well.... might be handy for pistons i guess) :D
Yes! I just need the one, then I can get them all sprayed up and put them on :)
If you're after pistons, I still have a full set of 1043cc pistons with new rings and big end bearings sitting in my shed which I'd happily part with :D

Not Bournemouth way I'm afraid but in the south east. Nearest landmarks are the Dartford Crossing on the M25, head down the A2 a bit to Bluewater and I'm a couple of miles from there.

The LX will be up for grabs as soon as I've put a new clutch in it. I only bought because the owner wasn't going to bother with a clutch and scrap it but it's far too good for that! Still taxed and motd 8) No space or need for it though so keep your eyes on the classifieds :)

sorry groovy i was hoping this Ranger would help on that front, but no ----- all i'd heard before i saw it myself was "F reg Polo... think it was a red one" :D... it's got teh funkey trims... if you fancy them instead!

(if i get this replacement phone cable i've ordered, tomorrow, then i've got a snap of it waiting in my mobile)

nuttinew just wondering about it is all -- because last time i was in bournemouth there was a nice mk1 in what i assume is "regatta" blue (kind of a rich medium-light colour?) trotting around, and surely there can't be so many like that left in that part of the world :D
also got pics of it on the phone, rotting since about october, wonder if it'll end up being the same plate :D

:( Shame.. I was looking forward to getting those all painted up..
Almost tempting to be a thieving pikey and tax a trim from one of the hundreds of late 80s mk2's around here.. sadly none of them seem to end up in the scrapyard!
Which funky trims would those be, anyway? I thought that rangers had the same ones as all the rest of the late mk2's..

What rims are you looking for GroovyCarrot cause my scrappy has about 10 mk2 Polos in it. All Hatchys too!

How much would you want for your LX, any pics? mileage? engine size? gears? Price?

Oh, sweet :) I'm just after one trim (managed to get the other three from the scrappy), the round ones that were fitted to the late mk2's:

If there's one of them there and it's not silly money I'd really appreciate it if you'd get it for me ;) Doesn't matter if it's been kerbed, just as long as it's in one piece, I'm going to be sanding it down and repainting it anyway.

The girl across the road scrapped her mk2 with those rims on last year because the MOT was more than the car was worth. If I hadda known she would have game them too you for nout.

Dunno when I'll next be at the scrappy (since mk1 parts are rare enough as it is) but when I'm down I will have a look for you. Theres a VW specific scrappy up this way too, want to go there just too see if they have any mk1 parts so I'll ask there too.

If I find one I'll let you know.

Kam.

yes they are, but there comes a piont when parts are unobtanable or overpriced and the only thing left to do is scrap it or modify it and I for one would rather see a mk1 on the road instead of sat on top an esc*** in the scrappy  modify is such a chav word refine or update sounds better!

My ones is completely standard, its has a few blemishes of rust coming through but there only small so they should be ok to get repaired easily. Other than that its in mint condition, everything feels like new, but it would do since it only has 15,000 miles on the clock.

I'm not really planning on modifying my car, just sort of refining as ste said. Just wheels, suspension, roof rack, other than that I don't think I'm gonna do anything. Oh and find a retro stereo.

My latest mod was this..

Ironic thing is I'm with the RAC
