The chaps you need to speak to are Scotts Mototune and you can get them on the following site:

http://www.scottsmototune.co.uk/mototune/default.asp

They deal with the SKN tuning, had a look on the site previously, going to be a long drive for you up north!

Have a look on the price list there as it lists the price and potential increase in bhp, only 11bhp for £400...I'd rather save and pay an extra £700 and have JBS install nitrous that would give you up to 50bhp increase!

but its BHP that you always have! NOS you have to re-fill and depending on bottle temp the bhp you get will vary

advanced autosport (whoever they are) have some polo tuning things online

http://www.advancedautosport.com/poloengine.htm

how much and how good i dont know

i figure a full exhaust, panel filter and a remap would give you nearly 150 in a polo

http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur ... _qdr%3Dall

from a 140+bhp polo4 gti

search around on that site, theres a vw polo gti doing (number 21 in topten vw) 138mph (you'll need ie for that, doesnt work in firefox)

theres a 150 bhp polo gti on some german vw forum (but i cant remember where) with an abt chip

point is chips/remapping might be good value lol

(i just need to actually see what remappers here are doing and who, if anyone here, has theirs remapped)

Hmm...yes, both you have raised some valid points, true the Nitrous will run out and needs refilling whereas the remap/tuning will be permanent...and after thinking about it more an extra £700 squid is a quite a substantial amount of money...but I would like to see the difference it makes before attempting it on my car...any volunteers?

What about a turbo? Now that would be permanent...but expensive! doh! There seems to be no middle ground...

I just had a look on the scotts mototune site, they only seem to do an ecu mod for the lupo gti,

http://www.scottsmototune.co.uk/mototune/car.asp?id=30

i'm guessing as this is the same engine it would be ok for the polo gti, and extra 15bhp and 38Nm of torque would certainly help, especially as the polo does seem to lack a bit of low down grunt.

would be good if it was a 'stealth' mod

on the lupo its not that stealthy tho

i'm sure i've read that the lupos engine had some guard against after market ecu mapping on that meant that only piggy back ecus that interupt the signals can be used

all well and good

but if you crash you have to rip the thing out your car

(that is, if your able too, like you havent broken your arms or smashed up the engine bay etc)
