Easy or Not?

Is it easy to change the rear discs and pads?? money is short so want to do it myself!

any advice please polo people?

i managed to do it myself no probs in theory, although i found my calipers had seized and had to replace them both... a little more complicated!

rear calipers don't just push back in you have to turn them clockwise to wind them back so seized rear calipers ???? i dont know being such a new car i wouldn't have thought they would. but yer their a piece of to do take the wheel off

then there should be 2x13mm going into the caliper sliders which have a 15mm nut machined into them, then remove the caliper might be a bit tight so you might need to lever carefully off, remove old pads and wind in the caliper piston.

To remove the discs from this point there should be 2x8mm allen bolts on the back of the caliper carrier be very careful doing this if you round the inside of the bolt their a pig to get out so make sure the socket/key is well in tap it in with a hammer to make sure is the best bet

also they can be very tight so you may need a longer bar/ratchet or a lot of force.
once the carriers off theres a countersunk screw holding the disc on remove this and the disc will ever fall of or might need a bit of persuading with a hammer depending on how long theyve been on. now clean the hub of all crap with a wire brush and put a bit of copper slip on the hub to stop the discs attaching its self in the future, reinstall the screw, clean the carrier of all crap on the surfaces where the pads sit and copper slip the faces, reinstall the carrier making sure its done up tight fit the pads, reinstall the caliper do up the 13mm bolts and thats pretty much it oh yer but the wheel back on

one other thing though if your not sure you can do it don't it's not worth the grief and expense it can cause

i never knew this and neither did the two guys helping me who've had SEAT's and VW's for a long time!!

i could have saved myself Â£200 then!!!

if youve got the old ones your half way to a rear disc conversion on the plus side
