I was wondering if i would be able to run 8x13 7x13 on a mk3 saloon lowered 40mm?
I was wanting 8" on the rear if possible.
Does anyone know if this would be fine or i would face problems?
175/50/13 tyres ofcourse.

The Germans do it lower than 40mm with this wheel/tyre combo but the suspension on these cars is rock hard, almost undrivably so

At 40mm, you might get away with it, but there's gonna be a bit of a large gap with those tyres between the arches hence why people go lower with this set up but with a trade off in ride quality.

Why would you want wider wheels on the back of a front wheel drive car???

Just thought with the wheels would fill the arches out better rob.
As with my 6" wheels the fronts fill the arches but the rears are slightly recessed.

why not get spacers for the rear then
you can still have it lower and have an arch gap can't you? it might look even more pimp that way... as it happens you've got mini pimpin wheels and a big gap, but riding high as well...
