What a saturday!

Post by srbpower »

Well what can I say, Our little polo is one hell of a car. I needed to drive down to our unit in grays essex from my girlfriends. 400 mile round trip. Couldn't take my car as the IC pipe is broke causing the car to do an environmentally 100 miles on 40 quid   So I took the polo, I was quite surprised how much fun it was in the motorway, just munched the miles 8) Didn't miss a beat on the whole trip and managed 380 miles on £30. Which is great when you think I left Nottingham at 3am so the roads were clear

But I took the polo for a run to get some petrol this morning, and for some reason the idle was really funny for awhile. She would sit on idle at anywhere between 1.5 and 2K But the revs would fluctuate up and down by about 200-250k while it was on idle. Really strange? anyone got any ideas. It when away and hasn't done it since. But if its a problem I'd like to fix it.

But all in all, what a car... must now spend some money on her 8)

Si :)

Good to hear you like it.

It also appears you have the famous water-temp-sender-fault. It's been discussed a few times now and happens to all of us, it seems.

The faulty temp sender on the thermostat housing does not measure the water-temperature accurately, thus causing the ECU to flip the idle up and down.

Check the last pages of the 'Common Faults' thread above.
