My heater control panel bulb went a while back whilst I was still under warranty - so got VW to sort it out. I'm still convinced they did it whilst sorting out the pedal box... but anyway. You have to remove the central console - I'm not sure how this is done - to get at the bulb in question. Or at least thats what the mechanics at veedub told me!

Thanks for the reply.
I went to my local dealers to find out after i'd taken the centre console apart and couldn't find the bulb, all you need to do is pull off the fan speed control knob and the bulb slots in behind it - easy as that!!

Just realised why i didn't get much response to my question on the bulb for the heater controls on a GTI, My GTI doesn't have climate control, it just has air con, apperently it was one of the first in the country and was to early for climate control

Likewise with mine, A/C and a sunroof - car was registered in May 2000. Dealer told me too that it was an early one.
