Just noticed that my rear LED brake light does not work at all the (but my other brake lights work fine). Does anyone know how this can be tested? I have tried the undo the two small screws on either end to remove the LED light but these will not turn- should they be this difficult to undo.
Any ideas would be great.
rear LED brake light
My brake light was not working when I bought the car, chances are that yours has gone too as they are a sealed unit. Had mine replaced under warranty, As far as I can remember there is no connector you can get to to check anything!
The screws weren't that tight on mine, just awkward because of the window angle.

you need to get those screws out really to check anything if you live near northampton i could help you out!
theres a connector going into the back of the 3rd light unit make sure you get battery voltage off it when you press the brake pedal if not possibly broken wire/bad connection in loom the wires do break in the joint from the roof to the tailgate, just pull back the rubbers and check there looking ok.
if youve got voltage then put battery voltage (a live and a earth) to the light unit to see if it works if i can remember right the leds are wired in series so if one blows then none of them work
let us know how you get on

Thanks for the information , I have managed to get the led light off but I can see no connector.
The wires are soldered on to the light on one side and i suppose the connecter should be on the other side of the wire, I have pulled the wire about six inches out from from the spoiler and it does not want to come out anymore-how far should this connector away from the light,
I looked under the rubber that houses the wires between the car and the boot lid and these seem fine i was thinking to undo the spoiler from the boot lid but i think that it is screwed aswell as bonded with some adhesive-is this correct.
any help would be great, as I am not sure how if I was to buy a new light how I would connect this?????????

My rear light went too, apparently its a sealed unit but somehow water still managed to creep in!
If my memory serves me correcty when you undo the two screws you should be able to pull on the black wire which leads to a white connector on the left hand side, this was a fiddly thing to remove tried for hours with thin nosed pliers still no avail, so I ended up cutting the wire and fixing up the new light myself finishing it off with some electrical tape! 12 months later all's fine still.
The new unit comes with a very long piece of connecting wire just over 6 inces from the light btw. I was told having a rear high level brake light on show and not working was an MOT failable offence so I'd be quick to get it fixed.
Good luck in trying to fix it!
