Well I just ordered the sunglass holder from a VW dealer. They didn't have any in stock so mine will take 8 days to arrive.

Â£9.30 installed (but I think I'll install it myself as its so simple).

Hmmm that dashtop cubby hole cover could be useful, it looks like it replaces the whole unit and the area beneath is carpeted. I never use the dashtop cubby anyway, it gets as much use as the seat drawers.

Thing is how awkward is it to replace as that centre section of the dash susceptible to scraches.

What would be useful is a lockable glovebox. I wonder if they'll do this on later models...

Hmmm about replacing the top centre dash cubby thingie - my VW dealer informed that the unit can only be replaced by removing the whole dash - it's fixed with a few screws from underneath

- if this is true, is another thing - but just make sure before forking out a few Pounds...

Nope, its definately removable as I just removed it ten minutes ago and you can remove it without damaging the dash (thank god!)

Right, all you need to do is push forward/up on the front part of the cubby (nearest the windscreen, there is a lip so this helps with grip) until you can get a fingernail under the actual cubby, then just pull it off!! You can obviously get it off much quicker if you work on one of the corners.

Less than a minute after I had the cover off I realised what was causing the rattles. Its actually the air vent wheel which is loose (not sure if you can tighten them up though, so look like a new centre cover).
Its been in five times this year at the dealership and of course they couldn't find anything

Lockable glovebox is a cost option (or comes with the passenger disarm option, can't remeber which) This is avaliable to order at your local dealer. It'll have to be a 'order to key number' job though which will take a couple of weeks.

Really?? I've asked my local dealer a few times about itand they keep telling me you cant get one. They are useless.
I might look into it further then.

When I had my mk 2 golf, it broke down in a dodgy area and I locked everything in the glovebox before leaving to find a phone (back in the days when a mobile was an extreme luxury) when I got back to the car smashed windscreen, dent on the bonnet, no radio. Why the hell they went through the windscreen I'll never know. But everything in the glove box was safe! plus it started perfectly when I tried...

ever since then I've always wanted a lockable glovebox in my car! I know it's not too safe but still helps.

Theres another story about a sunroof and me being locked in the car, but i wont go into it now.

Yep, saw it with my own eyes on ETKA today. Ask Martyn @ VAG Parts and see if he can help. Even if he can't order parts to key number he should at least be able to get you the sub-group so your dealer can find it.

I have the dashtop cubby hole cover as standard in my Polo! And i didn't asked for that!

My dealer told me all 2003 Polo's have this cover. I've seen some Polos with that, appart from mine. Also they told me that mine was the first Polo they saw with the cover.
Also I have lockable glovebox! Wow! I must be lucky!

It is standard in the Highline trim level.
Here in spain we have 3 trim levels: Conceptline, Trendline and Highline.

BTW, I also have chrome dials!
