with the GT manifold my peak torque was 74 lb/ft @ 4200 rpm and peak power was 80 bph @ 5900 rpm
with the NZ manifold my peak torque was 78 lb/ft @ 3900 rpm and peak power was 74 bhp @ 6000 rpm
of course thats on my car but on others it will be different (depending on mods), and I'm losing some power somewhere, as the car is with a chip, 4 branch manifold and sports system, golf AFM and drilled airbox.
now the figures it spits out may be wrong due to the variables that I've used, but that doesnt matter as I'm not altering them between setups, so they are still useful for comparison.
It would be interesting to see power and torque figures for higher rpm - like at 5500rpm, 6000rpm and 6500rpm. A stock GT's peak power's at 5900rpm isn't it? So worth seeing what's going on higher up in the revs.
Dom - I thought you can get graphs from the dyno, is there any way of superimposing the NZ one onto a GT one?
Just for comparisons sake, my adx mk4 made 84 lb ft at 2950 rpm totally standard.
132k with slight downhill assistance hit the limiter in 5th today, standard but for one of Dan's chips. The 16v Corrado didn't pull away until that point...
I tried running a tooth either way onthe cambelt on my cam but when I turned the GT over by hande the valves hit the pistons! So the filing the dizzy mount the only way.
very interesting about the inlet manifold difference, have you done any calculations on the optimum inlet runner size on the GT?

Crazy, why should that be?! Maybe time for a 'cam' chip
Just typed up Dom figures in Excel, It looks like you device is getting soeminterference as teh spikes look a bit suspect to me as the amount rate of power increase looks a bit high to be real? I may treat myself to one of those devices as my accelertometer device can display power but traction issues results in more errors.
pretty close to call, that one - an extra few packets of crisps or different amount of fuel might have made the difference in this case!
think i'd quite easily pick the NZ manifold over the GT though - there's a couple more HP on offer when you're really pounding it (which a dewedge/rechip might recoup anyway) but there's a little extra power (apparently...) through the rest of the range, and it picks up a whole lot earlier. for what percentage of the time are you actually over 5500 on most drives, and how much of the time building up to it?
yeah Alan those graphs look like the ones I had, but there are notany really smooth and flat roads that are suitable near where I live, but they the runs were done 3 days apart with similar weather conditions, on the same peice of road in the same direction and the car wasnt driven between changing the manifold.
well teh idea behind how it works is that you let it run about 1500 rpm in second gear then floor it for the power run, but hey I dont even know if I'm putting my foot down right.... I mean you cant just floor it, or else the engine bogs down.
optima, I can imagine its hard to get rebeatable runs as there are so many variables, I expect your about 10% accurate with those figures, power torque measurements are hard to get the F!1 teams were well pleased with are better than 1% accuracy on our Torque sensors I used to build for the firm I used to work for.
I think all GT cams need a vernier pulley to setup the engine dead right I thnk Paul cauldwell how had my cam in his NZ made had a 5bhp improvement when he had that cam of mine setup with a vernier pulley on a RR.
When I get some time I am going to fiddle with the GT chips a bit more.
