After being told by my dealer they wouldn't fix the rattles unless they heard them with me in the car I decided to take matters into my own hands. With some VW Radio keys, VW insulation tape, Silicon spray and an hours worth of my time I've managed to fix ALL the dashboard rattles!!
Essentially I stuffed the insulation felt tape anywhere that would possibly creak or rattle (and I also found what was causing the main one, turned out to be a small switch rattling against the dash itself ) or just anywhere I could fit it. I eventually stuffed so much in I could barely fit the radio/cd player back in!!
Result: One rattle free 9n dashboard (well, bar the instrument cluster which I'll soon be replacing with Chrome dials)
I'll do a very brief write up shortly and pass on the part numbers of what you'll need soon.
All I can say is Polo2k is right about the satisfaction you get/knowledge you gain when you fix something on your own car and the best thing is not one panel was marked/damaged
