To get the chrome dials you need to order the full instrument cluster. Prices depend on engine code and chassis number and they do vary massively. I was lucky as mine was one of the cheapest at £84 + VAT (thats at dealer cost though). There is a surcharge of £43 but VW/Audi tend to be lazy on exchanges so they'll probably accept it under even though the part number is different.

The cluster hasn't been fitted yet but will be done on Friday when VW can fit it in (you need keys + 5150 machine for coding etc etc). Labour is an hours worth at £27.50

So chrome dials for £130.

@Des

I didn't order one with MFA as this the sensors and loom wouldn't be there (as it wasn't fitted as an optional extra)

Damn.

Ah well, good luck with yours, sometimes it pays to work for VAG.

Does the unit that you've ordered include the glass in front of the dials? You see, mine was severely scratched by the dealer when the dash was taken apart, and maybe this could be a solution...

Also, when my instrument cluster was replaced a few months back, the keys had to be resynched to the immboliser, but this could only be done in the morning, because a call to VW was required and these can only happen in the morning - does this make any sense to you????

So what will happen with the MFA bit - will that work??

Deek.

The instrument cluster includes everything inc. the clear plastic. I'd say if they've scrathed it go for it!! What have you got to lose??

To code in the units you need the immobilser code, which you have to fax off to VAG. So yeah it does make sense

Sorry to dig up this old post, but when I get my car, (no factory sat nav) can I put the full MFA clocks straight in?

Coz if I can, I will.

And also, on the clocks with the FULL MFA, where are all the warning lights etc?

Sorry but you can't get the full MFA without the sat nav
I also wanted that but it is impossible (almost in spain)
You can try to talk with your dealer to see if they can replace the entire dashboard (I mean all the clocks and gauges). I asked it to my dealer and he said something like "are you crazy?"
I am waiting to see if in september, when the polo GTi will be presented, if there is any modification or something that lets us change the MFA.
But i am a bit frustrated about that, sorry....
Hope you have more luck!

With the full MFA some warning lights are integrated in the screen and some others are on top of the screen, almost in the same position where they are with no MFA screen.

Look at the picture below and you will notice a space on the screen and below the fuel and temp gauges.

You can get the MFA alone in the UK, but you have to specify this when ordering the car.

It costs £75 (+vat), but I don't know if you can order it as an aftermarket item. The looms would need to be added, switchgear etc, which may make it expensive...

Also, if you want to change the display yourself, you just need to find someone with VAG-Com who can then program for the immobiliser. Its a two minute job.

My car HAS the MFA, in a small screen inside the rev counter, but I was talking about the FULL MFA (look at the picture in my previous msg). Yo mean that you can order your Polo with the FULL MFA without having the sat nav?
I asked this when i bought mine but they said it was impossible
I'll have to come to live in the uk

The MFA alone isn't an option the dealer said and doesn't look like it's listed :?

But I mean if you have the small MFA under the rev counter already, surely the full size MFA cluster would go straight in?

The MFA is an option on cars that do not have this feature as standard. This only gives you the display under the rev counter, not the centre display screen which as others said is only applicable on the cars with sat nav.
