now, TRY not to wreck it eh!
(nah im sure with all the work you've put in, and the waiting, you won't be thrashing it *just* yet...)

((just be careful like - dont copy any of our colin mcrae fans, or the 205 driver i found sitting shocked in a ditch at the side of a country lane on the way to work yesterday! ))

Congrats!

Yeah, take it easy though, I'm sure most of us remember what we were lke the first time behind the wheel by ourselves  (well, me anyway.)

Don't be afraid to go back to your instructor for more advanced driving lessons should the need arise. :D

I'm hoping to, if the motorways don't out-fox me!

Ah, motorways are alright, just take it easy first couple of times you use them. Judging other cars' speeds when changing lanes is the hardest bit to get the hang of, but don't worry about it too much - it's a short car, and look closer than they really are - but having said that don't go diving out in front of them until you've had a bit of practice :D It'll become comfortable after one good spell on the motorway, and you'll get used to the speed very quickly too ;)

My car probably wishes I had lol. I haven't mastered the ultra sensitive accelerator pedal (has led to some embarassing moments  ). Then theres the gearbox, you have to be very precise. I have not quite got it into gear sometimes. I just think I must look quite funny as well where I accidently nail the throttle, then tootle slowly out of a junction. I suppose driving in DCs doesn't help either!

Cheers everyone.

You'll get used to the throttle very quickly.. it's more a case of slightly curling the toes as you pull away rather than actually moving your foot downwards :) As for the gears, the art is not to be precise, it's to be gentle - you can never try to force it in or just flick it over like you'll get used to doing in newer cars, just go with the flow, you'll feel when it likes how you're changing it :) Just a gentle clunk... clunk does it nicely ;)

Karl, when i drive i always make sure i have thin soled trainers on or i totally make a meal of clutch control...you can't feel jack through shoes.

As for the motorway, get on at the nearest exit to your house and get off at the next and come back down...thats all i did until i fealt comfy with the whole thing.
