Testing the water...

Post by metz »

Just testing the water really....if i get enough interest i will start producing these.

Ever fancied a flip keyfob like the new vw's use for your old VW?

I can add your existing key into one of these stylish Volkswagen fobs...

Obviously the central locking buttons won't work, But who needs that when you have the fantastic flip action key the new VW's have?

These fobs are as much as £50 on ebay alone...

My price £40 inc delivery

key fob may differ from one shown as some have 3 buttons and some have 2

did your car not come with the VW keys where the badge is metal and in the middle of the key? I think those ones are pretty good myself. But I can see the practical values of those ones.

When did they start having them on cars? my mk5 didnt have one but then again it didnt have an alarm...

new golfs and beatles come with them not sure when they stated though..infact all new vw's skoda's and audi's have them now..and probably a lot more cars.

Yeah, I like the old campaign keys personally.. always used to think they were really cool when my dad worked for VW.. dunno why, they're just different I guess :) And a bit oldskool :D Nice idea though, those flip keys are pretty cool.. but again, I don't know if I could really justify £40 on a key..

A pain in the butt, a lot of chopping and grinding is needed :-)
If i could get the fobs cheaper i could sell them cheaper, but at the moment the normal price on ebay is at and above £30

*hand up* me gotty a metal-centred one, with the hard plastic (bakelite? :D) black body... it's an antique... the pattern on the actual key is a bit rounded off so it doesnt always work right... but it does look proper mint :D

and you can't even get 'em from VW any more - they'll flog you some all-(soft)-plastic thing instead now, which it's all too easy to scratch the "legs" of the W out of...

How about one such key for someone who already owns one of them (eg new polo owners)?

Well, lemme explain: I have 1 such key (badly scratched VW badge) but my spare key doesn't have the central locking buttons.

And my car has been de-locked (incl. boot) so the only way to get in would be to use the remote. That can be programmed quite easily by me VW dealer.

So if I send my "conventional" key, could you make a 'flip' key out of it?

If it costs £40 that'd be a real bargain for me, VW Brasil charges around the equivalent of £180 for a replacement these days.

let me get back to you with a working one and i will sort it you mate,
As the ones i have done so far i havent tested as they were for a mk3 and a b reg audi so didn't need the actual electronic bit.

Sure i should be able to sort it for you though, Just need a fob that i know is working 100%
