Few Questions....

Post by Johnmk4 »

Do all GTis come with Xenons as standard or was it as option???

if they dont have them then is the best way to upgrade to get a set from a Xenon model and fit them, would this be a straight swap??

also, is a mk5 polo the same 4x100 et38 wheel fitment?

cheers

IIRC they're standard on UK cars, and most imports come with them as well..

Swap would be the only way if the car doesn't have em, i'd assume that there's a control unit for them somewhere for the autolevel and a stepup circuit to get the 10kV they need to work

think there about 5 times the price of the normal lights, so that could be why they put normal ones on.

I think the xenons might be anything up to £800-900  but like ttaw2 says, they were standard on all UK GTis.

Another option is a set of headlights from FK Automotive, they do a range of lights for the mk5, including projector lamps and angel eyes. Cheaper than xenons, but obviously not as bright. You'd be looking at maybe £250 for these.

Wheel fitment is spot on btw

There is a 2nd hand set up on ebay at the moment from memory starting price was £80

If I get chance I'll post the link up

I think it was being sold by someone who was selling a lot of GTi parts

At night:

Good old Imageshack :D Howzat?

The daytime shots there look like a 6n mk4 Polo, but the night shot is a 6n2 - the units for both cars are very very similar.

When i bought my GTi i asked how much the xenon's were to replace......Dealer advised that the bulbs were £108+vat..... That was for the bulb only, not the whole light unit and associated wiring/electrics.

Cheers

Ha ha ha, thew guy who is selling a Lupo GTI leather interior and Polo GTI wheels? He's been advertising for a while!

When I bought mine I asked the dealer how much the Xenons were and he said that they were a £600 option so I guess to fit them after-market so to speak would be £800-900, not cheap but they are worth it, not sure how I could go back to using 'normal' bulbs, just hope mine doesn't blow!
