Extended warrenty?

Post by scattycat1 »

My polos full manufacturer warrenty runs out in April this year, but I will stll have around 18 months of my finance to go before it is finished.

Is it worth taking out a year's extended warrenty on my car? Does anyone know roughly how much they cost also?

I really don't know much but you can buy extended warranty from a third party company rather than pay vw's prices. IT was a subject a while ago so it may be with searching for it, if not you could try asking Josh_PoloGTI as he bought the warranty for his old GTI :)

Years ago I had a Citreon Xantia which was going wrong all the time so after the Citreon warranty I took out a policy with Warranty Direct.
I found them good and a lot cheaper that the makers one.
The only downside was if the garage did not have an account you had to pay the bill which you then had to claim back.

Thanks for the tips. From lookin on the search for the extended warrenty I see that people have been quoted 300-400 for a year, which is quite a lot, but I guess I have to think about what could possibly go wrong on a 30,000 car, to warrent spending a lot of money on something which you possibly might not ever use.

Have to say that I woudnt consider a 2 year, as I'm probably going to trade my car towards the end of my finance, I'd love an R32 (but thats just dreaming!) heard the Polo GTI's are quite good, and a 2nd hand one might be good value.
