Accelerator cable tensioning?

Post by metz »

Got home tonight and the accelerator pedal just flopped to the floor.
The cable hasnt snapped but something is wrong..the metal clip is still on the threaded bar and the rubber dohnut is still there too...and there is a rubber nipple type thing just flopping about on the cable :-(

Anyway..does anyone know how i set it correctly?

Your cable may have gone. if you tension it so theres no slackness it should be fine.

Dan do i have to do anything to the pedal while i mess around with the metal clip end?

ie:- depress it or wedge it up?

it was too dark to see anything tonight but i did notice the cable hadn't snapped, does that mean its fixable?

the nipple has to fit onto/through/behind some metal thing IIRC?

possibly near the doughnut :D

such great terms you have there BTW!

oh and how great is it to suddenly be restricted to speeds even Benz himself might have found sluggish? pants!

I havent looked at it yet but i've got a feeling the rubber nipple should be attached to the rubber dohnut :-(

so that may be broken....there just seems to be loads of slack for some reason.

tahrey be a dear and take a pic of how it fits in for me :-D
